From Lake of Bays Brewing Co.,

In early Spring, the sap begins to flow in Ontario’s maple trees. In celebration of this rebirth, we present a unique seasonal ale made with sweet malt, noble hops, Belgian yeast and Ontario maple syrup.

In partnership with Ontario Maple Syrup.

Available from February to April 2014.

Appearance |  Clear, golden with a white, dense head.

Smell |  Maple, banana (weird, I know), biscuit, pancakes, and grains.

Taste | Maple, yeast, grains, biscuits, and hints of hops.

Aftertaste |  Dry, maple, and biscuit finish.

Overall |  In honour of Pancake Tuesday, Holy Maple!  This is a Belgian Blonde Ale that has been brewed with Ontario Maple Syrup.  The maple syrup is forthright in the nose, the taste, and the finish.  The taste is certainly unique, albeit slightly overwhelming. This little taste of Canadiana is mildly sweet. There’s mild and sharp carbonation. This is the first sign of Spring after a long cold Winter and The Brew Head welcomes it.    Lake of Bays Brewing Co. has been pretty dependable with their seasonal line-up. Folks, Spring is on the way and soon, we’ll be having patio brews!

So long, Old Man Winter!

What’s next from Lake of Bays Brewing Co.? They’re going to be releasing the next edition in the Masked Men series, CUJO, a Golden Imperial Ale. But look out for River Walker Ginger Lemon Ale, their Summer seasonal!

Food Pairing | Pancakes, butter tarts, or apple crisp.

LCBO Inventory | $9.95 | 750ml

Note: Lake of Bays Brewing Co. supplied Spring Maple Belgian Blonde Ale for The Brew Head to review.  Thanks ‘T-Bird’! ;)
