From Church-Key Brewing Co,

A peat smoked Scotch ale. This unique brews heart is that 10% of the malt is kilned over a peat fire, giving beautiful, deep rich smoky tones to the beer. It pours dark brown with a light tan head. It is low in hop bitterness and its profile is dominated by the sweet and smoky malts.

Appearance | Pitch black with a dark ruby glow.  Creamy head that settles quickly into lacing.

Smell | Smoke, peat, roasted grains, brown sugar, and malts.

Taste | Smoke, peat, malts, earthiness, sweetness, and dark chocolate.

Aftertaste | Lingering notes of smoky, chocolate malts, and peat.

Overall | Holy Smoke lives up to its name.  It’s a nicely balanced, low carbonated, medium-bodied brew that’s very smooth and smoky.   It will remind the drinker of a campfire on a crisp fall evening.  For the brew patron that is not usually adventurous,  it is recommended to get a sample of it before purchasing a whole pint or bottle. While it’s delicious, it is undeniably unique and may be a very acquired taste for some.  Check out a local pub, if they have it, and ask for a quarter pint first. This brew would be sensational with Thanksgiving dinner.
