From Waterloo Brewing Co,
At 5% alc. Waterloo Pilsner is a grain gold mildly hopped classic style pilsner that when poured has a creamy white bubbled head and a perfect balance of subtle sweetness and velvety bitterness wrapped in a gloriously crisp body.
The somewhat Bitter Flavour of Waterloo Pilsner goes extremely well with seafood dishes. The bitterness is short-lived though, essentially kick-starting the pallet and allowing those subtle seafood dishes to become accentuated in your mouth. Stronger fishes such as salmon or mackerel are perfect with this Pilsner because it cuts through the rich oily flavours traditionally known in this fish with its bitter-sweet sharpness. Fish and chips or calamari are equally terrific with Waterloo Pilsner. The beer scrubs through the deep fried goodness allowing the fish and squid to come out and play!
Appearance | Clear golden with a decent head that settles into lacing.
Smell | Corn, grains, malts, light hay, faint lemon, and faint hops.
Taste | Corn, grains, honey, faint lemon, and grassy.
Aftertaste | Dry, heavy mouthfeel finish with grains and corn.
Overall | Waterloo Classic Pilsner is a light-bodied brew that will go over well with those who prefer a simple brew. In the world of Pilsners, there are three styles (German, Czech, and European). German-style is a light straw to golden colour with bitter or earthy taste. Czech-style is a golden, full of colours, with a decent head and light flavours. European-style is a slightly sweet and can be produced from other than barley malt. It’s woefully lacking that crispness, light citrus, and hops. That being said, it’s still a decent refreshing brew that does its job.
